6th Bn ITBP is situated at Ramgarh, Haryana is performing duties of Natural Disaster Management unit as a specialist Disaster management battalion, the unit has performed several rescue operations in past year, glimpses of some of the operations are given below.

   

      

Achievements of 6th Bn. I.TB.P. The Natural Disaster Management unit during 2004-05

 

i)        On 23.4.04 at about 2300 Hrs approximately 150 Mtrs away from 6th Bn campus towards Ramgarh a tourist bus fell down into a 15 feet ditch in which 27 out of 35 passengers got injured. Under the leadership of Shri. D.S. Sangwan, DC and Shri. M.K.Dhasmana, AC, rescue operation was carried out . Passengers badly trapped inside the bus were removed from accident site under heavy rain and storm and shifted to BHR for medical aid where lightly injured passengers were given first aid and seriously injured after giving first aid were referred to District Hospital Panchkula /PGI. The unit arranged food and shelter to less injured persons. The information regarding this search and rescue operations was sent to concerned authorities and also published in the leading newspapers.

ii)       GOs-01, SOs-04, ORs-105 personnel participated in a rescue operation in connection with Parchu Jheel flood devastation in the general area of Kumarsain, Distt- Shimla (HP) w.e.f  12.8.04 to 18.9.04.

 

iii)      During the Tsunami waves,  03 coys of this unit took active part in rescue and relief operation and done commendable job, which was highly appreciated by the local administration of Andaman Nicobar, higher authorities of defence and as well as ITBP, Besides 02 teams consisting of GO-02, SOs-14 and ORs- 205, Total- 221 were also sent to Andaman Nicobar for rehabilitation.

 

 

iv)     Two SAR teams of this unit participated in a rescue and relief operation during snowfall disaster in Kashmir valley w.e.f. 26.02.05 to 25.03.2005. 

 

v)     GOs-02, SOs-04, ORs-143 Total-153 personnel participated in rescue operation in  Parchu Jheel flood affected general area of Rampur, Distt- Shimla (HP) w.e.f 26.07.05 to 04.08.05 also. 

 

vi)     On 09.09.05 One civilian person safely rescued from Ghaggar river near sector-25, Panchkula by the SAR team under the leadership of Sh Hoshiyar Singh, Dy Comdt of this unit.

 

vii)    One SAR team of this unit was sent to Gothi, Distt- Pithoragarh (UA) for Kailash Mansarover Yatra-06 for rescue and relief operation duty on 28-05-06 and after successful completion of work team returned at BHQ on 26-09-06. This party conducted search and rescue operation in Sela area during land slide.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS:

Location:

NIT SRDR is located in foothills of Shivalik range of Himalayas.Bhanu is a small village situated near  Ramgarh( Distt Panchkula, Haryana) astride NH-73 (Chandigarh-Nahan). It is 23 Kms away from Chandigarh towards Nahan.

 

 
Transportation:

Connected by road from Chandigarh, Ambala and Dehradun, buses are available at regular interval.

 

Connected by Train  through Ambala Stn, and Chandigarh

Nearest airport is Chandigarh

 

 
 

Climate and Season:

very hot days during summer, but evenings are pleasant   and moderately cold during winters. Rains are from July to September , there is heavy spell of the rain.

 

 
Discipline
  1. The general rules and regulations pertaining to the security and discipline in ITBP are observed in Institute. Since campus is being shared with BTC where newly recruited constables undergo training your high degree of discipline will be an example for them to emulate.

  2. Generally no leave is granted to the trainees, however , extreme compassionate grounds may be considered.

  3. Any participant who do not attend a class will not be allowed to pursue the course further.

  4. Late reporting for the classes will  not be entertained

  5. No family permission or outliving permission will be granted during the  course.
